This spring, our 5th grade students researched famous scientists. They learned how to search for information and took notes about their topics. Next, they worked with a small group to write a script introducing their scientist to the class.
Then, students used the Videolicious or Animoto iPad apps to create a video presentation. We were a little rushed for time, so not everyone was able to make a perfect video, but we all learned a lot from the experience.
Finally, these videos were shared with their classmates, allowing every student to learn more about these famous scientists. Students enjoyed creating these projects and learned a lot about their scientists, as well as research and technology skills. Thanks to this project, students gained experience doing research and using technology. To see what standards it relates to, go here.
